A. MARGAINE L’EXTRA BRUT BLANC DE BLANCS 1ER CRU

Located in the far eastern edge of the Montagbe de Reims, Villers-Marmery is the home base for Margaine and the village is notable forbeingan island of Chardonnay in a sea of Pinot Noir. The clone of Chardonnay used by Margaine in Villers-Marmery is particularly expressive and is specific to this area and cannot be found in other parts of Champagne.

DECANTER 92 POINTS– “The intensity of the 2022 season comes through in this fine Chardonnay from four plots in Villers-Marmery, presenting a beautifully heady blanc de blancs of white peach, lime, charred bread and white pepper notes, packed full of bittersweet citrus peel. It’s dry at Extra Brut, but the sheer presence of fruit and gentle sweet-nut roundness on the palate makes this an immediate pleasure.”

VINOUS 92 POINTS – “The NV L’Extra Brut, 100% Chardonnay from Villers-Marmery, offers tons of character as well as energy. There’s plenty of Margaine tension but more than enough depth to balance things out. Dried lemon peel, white flowers, sage and white pepper build effortlessly. There’s a touch of oak fermentation that helps build texture. All the elements are so well balanced.”
