Bolyki “Meta Tema” Late Harvest Hrslevel 2019
A late-harvest dessert wine from a quarry-turned-winery on the edge of Eger.
Grape Varietals & Region: 100% Hrslevel from Bolyki’s vineyards in Eger, Hungary, on brown forest soils in a cool climate.
Taste Profile: An exciting sweet Hungarian wine, medium golden yellow in colour, with a rich sweetness of honey, raisin, ripe melon and candied apple, closing in a delicate mineral finish.
Winemaking Process: Late-harvested fruit undergoes spontaneous fermentation with wild yeast in stainless steel, then ages 6 months in 500-litre oak barrels.
Winemaker: Jnos Bolyki planted his first vines in Eger in 1998 and has since built the estate into a 27-hectare operation run out of a converted medieval stone quarry. Meta Tema shows the sweeter, more patient side of a winery best known for its dry reds and Egri Csillag whites.
