Dinastia Real Extra Anejo Tequila Ceramic is five years of French oak in a hand-painted bottle — a 40% ABV (80 proof) 750mL 100% blue agave extra anejo aged sixty months in French white oak at Tequila Selecto de Amatitan (NOM 1459), Amatitan, Jalisco. The agave is slow-cooked in masonry ovens at a distillery founded in 1942, and the long rest gives it a deep, soft profile: chocolate, vanilla, wood, cooked agave, almonds, and walnuts, with a smooth, long finish. The vessel is hand-painted ceramic by Mexican artisans. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Five Years in French Oak

Extra anejo is tequila’s patient category — three years minimum, and Dinastia Real gives this one five. Sixty months in French white oak takes the agave somewhere between cognac and old rum: the chocolate-and-walnut depth, the sweet agave still audible underneath. It is the same extra anejo the Ball line doesn’t offer in this vessel — the Ceramic line’s flagship age statement, in the taller hand-painted bottle. Tasting Notes

Brand-via-retailer notes: a deep, soft aroma and flavor of chocolate, vanilla, wood, cooked agave, almonds, and walnuts, with sweet agave throughout and a smooth, long finish.

How to Enjoy

Neat, in a brandy snifter — five years of oak deserves the nosing glass. This is the bottle for the whiskey drinker crossing over.
