Produced by independent blender and bottler Proof and Wood, Deadwood is an American Straight Bourbon Whiskey distilled in Indiana and blended and bottled in small batches in Kentucky. Each batch currently comprises approximately 20 barrels, all aged for more than two years. Its mash bill is 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% barley, with the relatively high rye component bringing additional spice to the classic bourbon profile.
Approachable and easy-drinking, it opens with aromas of sweet corn, vanilla and light oak. The palate combines caramel and honeyed sweetness with fruit, pepper and gentle oak spice, while the rye contributes a lively counterpoint to the softer corn-driven character. The finish is warming and pleasantly spiced without becoming overly heavy, fitting Proof and Woods description of Deadwood as an everyday American Table Whiskey.
